AVS ES100 vs Nitto Extreme 555

I am pretty short on cash, but the sides of my tires are legally bald due to road racing (texas world speedway). Which tires would you recommend the Yoko AVS ES100's or the Nitto Extreme 555's (245...45....17)

Thanks,

i think those are in two different price ranges.. The ES100 is the economy performance tire from Yokohama that replaced the AVS Intermediates that I LOVED! I would certainly try them if funds were low..

If I were you, I would seriously look into getting some track wheels and some everyday ones.. so you can have your cake and eat it too!!

nitto 555's are nice but overprices, they don't last that long for the money. I would look into some firehawk sz50 ep's, they grip good, are quiet and last near 40,000 miles on average. If you are looking for some cheap road racing tires, then get some kuhmos.

Thanks for your reply's. I found the Nitto Extreme's for 126.00 a piece at discount tire. (the at store site)

Qty Item Price Extended Total
4 Nitto $126.99 $507.96

NITTO NT 555 EXTREME PERF
245/45ZR-17 89W (40139)

I thought this may hold me over. I currently have some heat cycled goodyear eagle f1 gs's, but eventually i do need a set of track rims

Kumho 712's are about $100 for 275/40R17's

Their MX's, which are a step up are slightly more.

If you do alotta roadracing, you might want to consider biting the bullet and getting an extra set of rims and tires. Then you can buy a set of real race rubber and a set of street rubber.. In the end, it'll probably be worth it in $$$ sinc eyou won't be killing your street tire out on the racetrack.
