ASP pulley

If I got a ASP pulley on my car would it make a decent difference (couple horsepower) or is it just a waste of money?

thx

How hard is it to install? I was also thinking about getting one.

Do I need any special tools?

its a worthless mod i think...5 hp whoopie, it would prob be the last to do on my mod list, save the 200 bucks and put it towards some headers or catback before you waste the money on a pulley

You know, if you turn down a 5 hp mod and a 3 hp mod and a 1 hp mod and another 5 hp mod as being "whooptie" well you just turned down 14 hp that most others will use to beat you silly at the track. Any mod that will free up or make hp is worth it if you really want to go fast.

the crank pulley frees up a percentage of horsepower.. the more power you make the more it can free up.

so its benefit isnt just what you get initially.. its multiplys out.. so the more power you add the more of it you get to keep and use.

so is that worth it? I think so..

and you get a built in balancer so it doenst have to go piggy back.. thats why its more expensive than others.. it does 2 things..

Well, we arent talking about a series of mods just the pulley and the pulley alone is not worth the price. Like i said it would be the last mod to do on my list. 200 bucks aint cheap and for 5hp it doesnt hardly justify the price. You can get LT's for 400 or so why not just save up and get a mod thats going to produce nearly 20+ hp? Or a better flowing catback? LM is only 330. That has the potential to yield up to 20hp, or a Y pipe that is 180 and yields 10 hp or so. A lid, 100 or so for 8-10 rwhp. There are alot of better mods to do, and mods that should be done before this one.

My understanding of this pulley and the main reason why it works is that it reduces the power given to accessories (ie Air Conditioning). If I were to do this mod would I feel any difference in the A/C or any other accessory that is now being given less power?

(I know, I know, who needs A/C when you want a fast car. Well, I do. You can't go fast in traffic and 100 degree days with 110 humidity get old quick!)

In my experience, I have found that a pulley will kill a weak battery. .So if your battery is going to die, it will speed that along.. otherwise it wont affect it at all.. (I killed one battery then replaced it with an autozone battery and lasted 3 Houston Tx summers with no issue)
Your AC shouldnt show much sign of spinning slower.. your air may not blow at full force but it shouldnt be something you would really notice.

If you have an aftermarket stereo that needs loads of juice you will probably not want a pulley.

LT's for $400 - what half azzed headers are you talking about? I wouldnt install non coated headers on my car ever!

LM is only $330 - Heck a cutout is tons cheaper, why not go for that and save $230 (based on a $50 cutout and $50 install)

Y pipe that is $180 - this is a good mod but a pulley is tons easier for your average do it yourselfer as many dont have access to welding equipment.
A lid, $100 - Sure its a good mod but the guy asked about pulleys.. Most people already know about lids and or have them..
