Anyone running a 232/234 595/598 112 LSA Comp cam
Anyone running a 232/234 595/598 112 LSA Comp cam
Please give me your feedback and results on this cam. Thanks In Advance. How does it idle and how manegable is it on daily drivers. Comp Cams says For race use only, but the shop I talked to says they feel confident that it should be a good street cam after tuning. After all it isnt that big of a cam. People are running a GX52 cam which is 232/240 with a lift of over 600 on both intake and exhaust on the street. So if the GX52 is bigger I shouldnt have any problems with the 232/234. Anyone running the 232/234?

The G5X2 cam is the 232 240 cam. Yes it is a Comp cam. Yes I know its not listed at comp (before anyone jumps in and says its not). They will do custom grinds of lobes they already have.
the 232/234 cam is just an off the shelf XE-R comp grind, and looks very nice.

lol..
Its the intake lobe off the Comp Cam #54-446-11 and the exhaust lobe off the Comp Cam #54-448-11.
making it a Custom grind Comp cam XE-R 232/240 .595 / .609
You can mix and match lobes with comp, they let you do that. Its COMMON practice!
Working at a vendor myself I know how this works.
For example, many people have "Custom" 224/224 cams that are actually Comp cams with the lift number miss quoted by 0.02 or something. You print up your own cam cards and resell them as your own custom grinds. You can sometimes even get comp or craine, or lunati or whoever to NOT put the grind number on the cam. This has been done for years.
Its NOT a big deal really, its so common place anymore.
Since you know someone over at LG get the specs from that cam (all the valve timing specs) and ill call my sales rep at comp and see if it really is costom. You can email me, so people on the board dont have to see the specs.

I see where you are coming from. However just out of curiosity I'll send Lou an e-mail today and see what kinda info I can get. I know the family, and even though they can hook me up I will never buy something fromt hem directly cause they are expensive as hell! I will only buy LG if I can find it used, haha. By the way the TB in the sig I got for free so you can't slam on me for that!

Someone took one of the old G5 cams and had it checked and it ended up being the exact specs of a custom comp you can get.
Yeah they are expensive... I cant believe they get away with some of their prices.. but then again the average customer out there doesnt know the difference and assume too much.
I wish someone would get me a free TB
That cam is pretty stout and tuning will be mandatory as will good springs. It will idle rough but nothing that most of us hot rodders will have any problem putting up with. You already have the intake and exhaust so I say go for it......
As for LG Motorsports products costing more than some other brands.......You are paying for quality. Quality isn't cheap and in most parts it can't be seen with the naked eye, such as the wall thickness of a piece of tubing. Lou's parts fit properly too. I looked at all the other brands then went with Lou's products for my suspension because I wouldn't settle for less than the best. Also his customer service is excellent. You never hear about a LG product breaking at the track.
As for Lou himself, there isn't a finer gentleman in the industry.
