Anyone have or seen Bassani or Random Tech. cat-backs?
Just curious. I see these for sale on places, but I never hear about anyone having them. Anyone on here happen to have one? I'd love to hear some sound clips or opinions on one of the two.
Ok, maybe I can help a little:
A couple of years ago, I installed the Random Tech cat-back on my bone stock 2000 Z28. I had it removed two hours later. Yes, TWO hours later. I was that disappointed. Honestly, it was nearly as quiet as stock at idle and cruise. And it had a "funny" sound to it around 2,000rpm. I'm sure the gains would have been good, but "not" the sound I was looking for.
Someone local around here has the Bassani cat-back(along with Bassini headers/ory) on his 2000 WS6 T/A and he really likes the tone of it. I just know this by talking with him but I've never heard it in person. Supposed to be quiet on a stock or stockish car though. Also very expensive.
Cat-back systems are all strictly a matter of personal opinion. Everyone likes something different. So it would be best for you to try and hear as many different set-ups in person if possible. With that said, the GMMG(what I have) is my favorite sounding exhaust for the LS1(have not heard a better one yet). But I will never spend that much $$$ for a cat-back system again.
BTW, if your already happy with your cutout, just keep that and put your money elsewhere.
