Question anyone got a weight on a stripper f-body?

Guys,

I won't be able to get my new Z28 to a scale anytime soon. This car has no PW, no PL, no rear window defroster, no t-tops, no electric hatch release, no power mirrors, no ASR, no cruise control...nothing except an in-dash CD player and, of course, A/C.

What do you suppose it weighs without a driver?

I have a number in mind, but it might be a little too optimistic. Anyone else have a stripper (or two) on hand?

With me (180lbs) a 1/4 tank of gas and no jack/spare. It tips the scales at 3440lbs. I pulled the back seats and rear seat belts, passenger front, sail panels and some other stuff one time and weighed it 3190lbs without me in it and about an 1/8 of a tank of gas.

My old '98 Z28 1LE (stripper) weighed 3360 on the NHRA scales at Ennis with 3/4 tank of gas. The car did have the CD changer, so I too will guess 3350 for your car assuming 3/4 tank of gas.

FWIW, my '01 T/A weighed 3490 on the same scales with just a tad less gas.

keep in mind that manual windows and locks add weight.theyre actually heavier than doors with power options.

Question

Totally untrue about the manual accessories adding weight. The cranks are plastic and weigh 2 ounces. The power windows motors, wiring, switch mechanisms, sensor stops and added brackets weigh way more! The power locks are redundant upon the manual locks. Stripper cars will generally run about 3350-3400 pounds. Mine weighs much less !

i was reading that two comparable doors will weigh more with manual options.how would the mechanisms holding up the glass only weigh 2 ounces?

stripper cars do weigh less though because of options that are deleted.

Sorry, but I cannot see how a door with power windows and power locks is lighter than a manual door. The part he is referring to that weighs 2oz is not what holds the window up, it is the actual hand crank. The power door also has extra switches and wiring as well.
