any quiet 2 mufflers that fit right behind the headers?

I understand that there is an exhaust forum but I'm positive that many more people who can answer my question will be browsing this section.

The 408 is ridiculously loud.. I was okay until the muffler welds broke a few days ago, and then just today when I took everything off, I realized the ypipe had worn through the metal from dragging and hitting. Does anyone know of the quietest set of small mufflers that will fit under the car and behind SLP LT headers? I may run 2 1/4 pipe parallel over the axle and mount them back there, but I still want the quietest ones I can buy without choking the engine.

I'd get a true dual setup with an X-pipe for starters.. Tons better than that crappy Y-pipe.

yeah, but is it really necissary to do an X pipe? it would tuck under another inch or two if it didnt run under the DS.
I like this guy's setup: but instead I want to run them on their own side, like grippenfelter's

www.texas-speed.com makes a nice True Dual kit for the F-body. I think it's around $400 -- comes with an X-pipe and mufflers and everything -- no clearance problems on my Z28, which had a 1.25" drop with Eibachs.

I wonder if they might give me a discount since they sold me my engine with an f'd up reluctor wheel that can't tell the difference between 180 and 360.

I think what I'm going to do is buy a chop saw, a few U's and 90 degree bends and invest a few days. the thing sounds wicked with open headers.

Are the cheap summit bullet resonators any good? I was thinking 2 of those before the axle, then after doing 2 smaller cased mufflers, like above. What set of mufflers do you think would keep my sound at a minimum?

Is that what you had? I know you had the X pipe setup which sounded very nice, was it from TSP?

way to quiet exhaust down
run 2 bullets on each side, one before the x, and one after the x. It'll be nice and tame that way.

sorry to thread jack, but do you think that kit would fit on an lt1 car with out any big problems?

Bullets with turndowns.. It's a little on the louder side, but it's deep -- sounds fantastic and the performance doesn't get any better than an X-pipe with a free-flowing exhaust.

so you think 2 bullets and 2 mufflers? lol that would be a ridiculous amount of quiet, but I am thinking about doing it. I suppose I'm the only one who wants a REAL quiet car. I HATE getting attention with exhaust tone. I want to be able to go WOT and only be heard 1 mile away instead of 3.
