Another H/C post!!
I have tried and tried to search but i have yet to find the results i am looking for.
Tax season is just around the corner and im looking to put a cam or possibly a H/C package on my 98 Z28 a4. I drive this car everyday to work so it still needs to be some what drivable and it is pretty much stock now. I do want to add nitrous sometime down the road. And my car is probably to tired to be running all these mods at 118K miles.
I am currently 2-3 car lenghts behind a 03 Mach 1 with some boltons and really want to wax him before he gets his 03 KB cobra. Any mods that anyone can list along with prices will be much appreciated. I will have about 2000 to play with. thanks again

Well for starters get a qualty 3500 or more torque converter and a tune to touch up the shft ponts. That alone wll put you several cars ahead from a dg and wll only use up 1200-1300 dollars of your budget.

No point in tearing into the engine if you don't have the supporting modifications already. Since you've only got $2000 budgeted, that should go towards intake and exhaust modifications, and if you're mechanically inclined, a torque converter as well.
Intake - lid and LS6 intake manifold. Ported throttle body if funds allow. Lid and intake can be had for under $400, and install is very easy.
Exhaust - Long tube headers, y-pipe and catback or cutout. Headers, y-pipe and catback can be had for under $750. Headers can be difficult for a novice so you may want to factor in install costs there.
That alone should put you ahead of the Mustang no problem. Add a torque converter and some sticky tires and you'll blow his doors off.
