For adjusting the shift points & shift firmness, YES.
For increasing power, well, YES, but at a cost (lots of pinging from too much spark advance!)
I have dyno and track results as proof. By adjusting shift points (and gear ratio to 4.10
) I have shaved a good .1 - .2 seconds off my 1/4 mile time, and with the "power tuning" option selected, the car has run ~1 - 2 mph faster, HOWEVER, even running on 94 octane fuel, it still pings really bad above ~4500 rpm, so unless you run octane boost on top of higher octane fuel, I wouldn't advise using the Hypertech "power program" (a custom program would be much more beneficial, as it can be specifically tuned for your car, and keep everything within safe limits, ie: not advancing the timing too much).
Get the Hypertech only if you want to adjust shift points, firmness and/or gear ratios and/or tire sizes
