That annoying Low coolant light

The coolant light in my ls1 has been on for the last few months. I have checked the level a few times, it is fine. Is this a sensor problem? Is there anyway to reset the damn light. Thanks guys

Hey I assume your problem is a broken thermostat. I know mine broke and the only reason for me to check the problem was the low coolant light but I was full. Check it out...

The coolant sensor will quite often fail or get dirty. First, drain 1/2 the coolant out of the radiator. On the LT1 the sensor is on the motor side of the radiator on the header of the radiator and directly below the radiator cap. It is held on by nothing but a bent wire clip. Pull the wire and lever out the sensor. Clean it with a toothbrush and some cleaner. Put it back in, plug it in and see if it works. If not replace the sensor. They are about $40.

Sensor ...

Common problem. Remove and clean the coolant sensor in the radiator. Take off the filler cap and I believe it sites about three or four inches down from the neck (don't quote me on that).

A lot of people say the DexCool contaminates the sensor and that simply cleaning it will fix the problem. Had mine replaced at the dealer last year.

Try cleaning it.If that doesn't work then you can just un-plug it and the light will go away.
