annoying engine noise - what is it?
I've had this problem for a over a year now. It's been slowly getting worse.
It only does it on a warm restart after the car has been sitting for 40 minutes to 2 hours. Usually when the car temp is between 160 and 210.
As soon as I start the car in the above conditions, it makes an annoying whurring noise that's quite loud that sounds like a bad serpentine belt or similar. It will last for up to 5 - 8 minutes, never more. It goes away after the engine hits about 2K RPMs and comes back when it falls below.
If I let the engine idle or drive it for about 5 minutes, it'll finally stop. When the sounds stops, it sounds like there's a whoosh, like air from a super charger.
This sounds is getting on my nerves and it's quite embarassing when it makes that noise.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix it? I already replaced the main serpentine and A/C belt.
