I sense your sarcasm, but hey, SLP sure was proud of them. It was $20 a set.
It would be funny to see my car parked beside a real SS and listen to how many people complain about my decals.
You would be the only one.
Then that SS could race me and see how much faster they were with the same engine.
I just like my car the way my car is... I haven't said it was any better than anybody elses. I'm not a poser. I still say I have a z.
Lan , I wouldnt give a **** what anyone says , its your car bro , the decals look fine . The super sport and really nothing a Z cant be . If it was a 6 cyl i would see why someone would give a **** ., but i think it looks good . They are pretty much the same car . Besides my Z whooped up on a few SS's

I have seen only 3 other SS's in my area, a '96 (red & BAD),
a '00? , & a black '02. I wanted a Z-28, & a '99 SS became
available. I bought the SS. Just sold my '94 v-6.

Well, I got it home, parked it in the drive way and realized, oh crap.. what have I done, I bought a z28 and not an SS. It was too late. I couldnt take back the car, I already paid for it. I decided the only thing I could do is get the parts rather than trading it in and loosing $3600 just for having driven the other one off the lot.

What exactly do you think an SS is anyway... its just SLP's hood and spoiler with some 17x9 rims thrown on a z28. I bought that stuff and some larger 18x9 rims that I like better than the 17x9 zr1's anyway. The 2001-2002 z's have the same suspension as the SS.

The serious posers are the ones who DONT have a z28 and put SS badges on their cars.. Not to mention those with a z without the ss hood and spoiler and it SS badges on it. That looks silly

/////Jubei: this is something you're going to have to watch out for if you're looking for an SS. Nuff said.

Believe me, I'd MUCH rather have a real SS, and uh... I dont plan on selling my car. I got those parts just for myself.. I thought it looked soo plain when it was a z, so I made it look like an SS.. then to jazz up the z28 badges, I bought the carbon fiber z28 decals.. they are just too long, and they look funny to me. Personally, I'd rather have no badges on it than the z28's now. I bought the SS decals to just make it easier on people looking at it. I got all these people saying "look, its an SS" then they'd get closer and say.. its a z? weird. But, whatever. I like it. Who cares anyway. It looks sweet to me

Once you badge a car a model type that differs from what is on that cars title you become a "poser". It makes no difference if you go from V6 camaro to SS or Z28 to SS. Your car is not an SS and never will be.

I'm glad you like your car. The hood looks nice and all but most LS1 owners would have left the Z28 badges on or no badges at all. Of course with no badge people might think your a V6 with a hood but hey sleepers can be cool too

I'm currently considering getting a WS6 aftermarket hood for my car because they look so cool but even if I do I would never put WS6 badges on my car. It's false advertising per say.

Good luck with your LS1.

Poser seems like such a dirty word
I look at it this way, my car will never be an SLP SS, but its more an SS than it is a z28 now. It's just my own version of an SS Besides, when I go to sell it, i'm going to put it back to a z28 and sell the SS style parts on ebay. Right now I cant see myself ever selling the car. I plan on driving it until it just wont go anymore. I personally would rather have a 2001 z than a 98-2000 slp ss anyway. Shoot, I bought the z brand new off the showroom floor and I paid $28,500 for it. Its got every single option, power everything, t tops, 12 disc, traction control, chrome rims, leather, and the most important, 6 speed

Ignore the decals, and we're all about the same thing, having nice, sporty looking cars that go real fast

That's cool.
My friend was looking for a SS this summer and kept telling me about the fakes he saw. Most didn't even have all of the appearance stuff. I remember one of ebay that had the spoiler and wheels and claimed the hood was stolen!

Keep looking. Your car is out there somewhere and just hasnt popped out yet. I found the exact car I wanted in March of 2001. 96, Silver, t-top, cloth seats, power everything and absoultely perfect. It sold before I got the chance to ****** it. Found my car in May. Completely inferior to what anyone would consider normal. I'm still in the process of fixing the appearance into presentable IMO. Paid the same as the good one that was for sale privately. Got mine from a used dealer who is out of business....go figure. Dont settle for anything less that what you want and a car that isnt a POS.

Also, I dont see what the big deal is passing a Z28 off as an SS. Its not like the SS and Z28 weren't the exact same car anyway give or take a few tweaks in suspension and appearance. Oh well, to some it's a big deal.

Well, they are different cars externally but... SS is just an SLP branding for what they do to a z28. Everyone knows that if they have an SS, its a z28 with the standard SLP appearance/exhaust/suspension upgrades. SLP doesnt make cars, they make parts. Every SS is a souped up z, and they are worth the 3500 extra that they cost to have them look like they do. They obviously had to call them an SS because they dont look exactly like a z.

I added the performance parts to my z, so as far as looks go, its really more an SS than it is a z now. Thats the only reason I changed the badges.

One interesting thing I found was that the 98-00 Slp SS had different suspension, but the 2001-2002 z28 suspension is the same as the SS of those years.

You raise a good point about the 01s and 02s having the same suspension as the standard SS suspension. I still wouldn't badge it though, to each his own.

Sometimes you just get lucky.I was driving around with a friend, who owns a z28 himself and he asked me if i wanted to take a look at a 2001 ss,and i said alright. We did and i fell in love with it.Red with t-top,with leather interior and a 6 speed. We test drove it and i ended up trading my 2000 mustang gt for it.And that happened yesterday.I couldn't be happier. Sometimes when you don'tlook for something it just ends up falling into your lap.Wait till you find what you want, don't settle for anything less.

Yeah when something that rare comes across you don't think twice. So did you trade in a mustang or something else?
