2001 Camaro z/28 146K Miles

A few days ago my car volt meter would dip into 7 or lower and the CHECK GAUGES light would come on. I would rev the moter and it would go back to a safe reading and light would go off.

Driving to work today I had the Volt meter go to 18, AIR BAG, ABS INOP, and BRAKE Lights come on.

I turned around and went home. I replaced the alternator less than a year ago, and had a similar issue with the volts drop. I took the alternator to be tested and it tested ok.

Do you all think this is just a bad alternator that has an issue when under a load?

I'd think if the alternator tested good, that the battery is more likely the issue. Did you also have the battery tested?

 

I’d suspect a loose ground or crap\dirty battery connection.

Check all your grounds, the ones attached to the head, also ground the alternator with an extra ground.
