Air Lid to STAY CLOSED!?

Hi all. I just bought a used Carbon Fiber Air Lid for my 00 Camaro Z28. I put it on correctly and everything is in place. Well, the problem is that i can't get it to stay shut! I close one down and then the other one won't go one...this is the same with both sides. Since I coulden't get them both shut I left one clamped on and the other one off. When I go to lift my hood after a while I noticed that it poped off...AGAIN. Is there any way to keep this thing closed, or any suggestions on how? (Yes I have messed around with it all night trying to get it in place, but no luck)

I had the same problem at first. Mine would clip down, but once the car moved the clips would come undone. It's not installed correctly.

It's a little hard to describe, but put all the tabs on the back of the lid inside their respective holes, then push down and back on it. They should almost "click" in place (sort of, not sure how to describe it,) and stay there.

Do you have a K&N or other aftermarket filter? If so, did you transfer that rubber gasket from your old lid to the new one? My friend had the same problem with the metal tabs coming off because he forgot to transfer the gasket.

Not true. I ran my lid for months without the gasket (forgot to transfer it.)

It held down fine once it was installed correctly.

I had the same problem I was so pissed off. Then I realized that on the front of the lid, the piece on the front of the lid needs to go on the inside of the box lip. At first glance it looks to go on the outside, but try it on the inside. Hope you can understand that.

Im the guilty party who suggested to trim the bellows It doesnt matter what brand lid, what bellows it is. If the four tabs arent in the slots in the rear its not going to fasten in the front. Most of the time its incorrectly seated in the bellows and it puts pressure on the rear of the lid. Before trimming the bellows make sure its all the way back on the throttle body. Thats the side I had to trim to get my lid to fit right on both my 98 and my 02
