Air lid question

hey all...i recently bought my 2000 z28 6spd. the guy had put an ls1motorsports air lid on. Ive been driving it around and i kept feeling as if the motor was bogging down between 2.5 - 3k rpm. i dynoed it and air/fuel ratio was 14.5 - 15. sooooooooo i decided to put the factory lid back on. it totally stopped acting lame. im kinda pissed though as to why it did it with the aftermarket lid...i mean..they are all the same pretty much. anyone else notice ever experienced anything abnormal?

The direct flo lid is a good piece and dynos
very well. However it is a bit tricky getting the
tabs in the first couple times so I think the sealing
issue is a possibilty. Did you dyno it afterwards also?

did you get a graphical readout or just numeric?

Thats very weird.. Also, why did your car lose so much from one run to another?

I find that most dyno shops charge like 45-75 for 2-3 runs and 125 an hour for how ever many you want.. I would rather pay 125 and do some lid changes and multiple runs than not.. just something I was thinking..

I just put a TSP lid on and I feel the exact same thing. I'll check it out to make sure its sealing.

Lightbulb Weird.

I had the opposite problem - I.E. my A/F mixture was in the 12's at high RPM, or rich.

I'd agree that improper sealing might be the cause.

Oh -

Do you have aftermarket MAF ends, or stock ?

Every car seems to react differently, but it seems like my car runs better w/ the stock (screened) pieces.

I have a MTI lid - it was on the car when I bought it.

same here, stock MAF and ends. Only that wasn't was a custom bellow, Lid wouldn't seal with that one so I had to go back to the stock bellow. Seems to seal, I checked today, and couldn't tell any leaks. I might pop in the old lid this weekend and see if it changes things.

Do the cigarette test. Take a lit cigarette or something that makes a little smoke and put it near the lid it should pull in the smoke if there are leaks.

13.5 air flow?

You mean 13.5 air/fuel? A 13.5 A/F ratio is just a little on the lean side but that's fine. I wouldn't worry about it or change anything.
