Air/Fuel ratio tuning..

If I take my car to a dyno with wide band sensors do I have to have a MAFT and fuel pressure regulator in order to tune these or is there a way to do it on a stock car? I want to be able to tweak things when I go to get my car dynoed so I just want to know if I need to get this stuff before I take my car.

Thanks all!

Ok.. so I have to have at least a MAFT to actually do tuning on the dyno?

Not if the shop has a shop version of LS1 Edit. They can use that to adjust your air/fuel ratio. May be cheaper than a MAFT.

Its not goin to be cheaper than a MAFT.. thats a problem. It was 300+ and then i had to pay for dyno time to get mine done

Yeah it would be cheaper for me to just buy a MAFT, most shops I have found that do LS1 editing charge almost what it would cost to just buy a freakin copy. I will probably just get the MAFT and when I get to doing some bigger things I might sell it and my HPP3 to buy my own copy of LS1 Edit.

Phantom, do you guys at ramchargers make your own version of a MAFT or is it the same that can be bought at other sites? About how much would it run? You can PM me with the info if you want.

Thanks!

Phantom,

Does the MAFT work for both the LS1 and LT1 or is it engine specific?

MAFT works on both cars

The MAFT+ is LT1 only

Oh, ok.. that is what had me confused then the MAFT+.

One last question and I will try to leave it alone. What is the deal with the different versions? I have tried to look some stuff up about them and some sites are talking about older and newer versions. What are considered the "newer" versions and what is the difference? (ok maybe that is more than one question )

anything 6.0 and up has a pre set calibration for a factory z06 maf. Otherwise it means nothing to you.. even if you buy a SLP or Pace "calibrated" maf it means nothing to you since you dont use the pre set calibration in the MAFT.

Otherwise any other changes only reflect the turbo buicks.

Understand?

Dave,
I've got a set of anodized TR ends coming to go with the light mods in the sig. Am I in a position where MAFT and dyno time is likely to give me any increase worth talking about (10 or more RHP).

Also, so I have to remove the HPP tuning (I believe it's just +2 timing at WOT) to use MAFT?

Thanks for the help.

nope you dont have to remove it.. only if you have knock retard after adding fuel and installing the ends

it could be 10hp.. it might be less.. depends on the car
