Question aftermarket shifters

Whats the best short throw shifter available, Pro 5.0, B&M, or SLP? Is the one that SLP sells the same as the Hurst option you can get from the factory?

Thanks!

Do a search and you'll find plenty of opinions. The B&M and Pro 5.0 are both great shifters. I wouldn't even consider getting a Hurst.

I have a hurst and i love it. hurst has been the best since the muscle car era and they are still the best. My buddy has a pro 5.0 and he and myself both prefer the hurst. Everyone that has driven our cars prefers the hurst. I wouldn't ever have anything but a hurst in my cars i love the one in my 69 mach 1 428cj too

I have the stock Hurst in mine and I like it well enough. I like a heavy feeling shifter though. Just try the different ones available if you can and see what feel you like best. Everybody is going to like the one they own the best. I've felt them all and I like them all but I have no plans to change out my Hurst because it suits me fine.

I have the B&M Ripper and its the best! Ha Ha, seems most folks favor that Mustang shifter, ahhh whats that one called, oh the Pro 5.0. Seriously though, I think you will be very pleased with any of the aftermarket shifters, even a Lou's short stick bolted to the stocker would be a dramatic improvement (the stock stick has a rubber isolator that disconects you from the mechanism). I'm happy with my Ripper.

The SLP one is identical to Herst.... except for the ****... but that's esthetic.

I got the SLP because The Herst was BO from GM so I suugested they get the SLP instead... the dealer did it because I purchased the car with the Herst option... so I figured out they are the same given that the dealer decided to put the SLP one, as stock... meanwhile, I changed the stick... for a shorter one, giving me even shorter shifts. ;-)

I have the pro 5.0. It's VERY adjustable so you can get the exact shift you want. Very tight and just snaps into gear. The only problem I've ever had with it was the shift stick has come loose twice. But, I figured out that a little loctite clears this problem right up I like the ability to change and alter the shift stick so I can move the center of gravity.

I get such a rush when I'm rowing the gears and I hear that shift banging against the adjustable stop points. It just feels so precise and sounds so wicked. The only part of any of the Fast and the Furious cars I liked was the sound that green eclipse made when shifting. The Pro 5.0 has a similar type of smack when the stick is engaged.

It took me a while to get it adjusted just right but now the shifter is just so d@mn sweet!

Cool. Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like I cant go wrong whichever way I choose to go...as long as it isnt stock.

Its going to be hard to try any out, I havent seen too many Fbodies since I moved out here from Maryland. People seem to think our cars arent any good in the snow.

Vote for a pro 5.0 . I think missing shifts would be near impossible from 2-3 .

I liked my Hurst so much I removed it when I sold my '97Z and re-installed it on my '02.

A great way to make the Hurst even better is to install a Lou's Short Stick. I know it doesn't make much sense that just getting a shorter stick will make a big difference, but it really does. The stainless steel Short Stick is kind of overkill since the shift boot completely covers the shift handle.
