After market lids.
Mine seems to be more oblong rather that round, which is o.k. I guess, but when I try to hook up an 85mm MAF it hits the radiator schroud at the notches they install so you don't break them. Torque or an ill fit had had me clamp down on them twice. Is it time to call it defective, or will I harm to lid and MAF housing if I eliminate some ofthe radiator schroud to accomodate the extra height from the lid? BTW the lid is higher than it is wider if that gives a better visual.
Gearjammer, I have the 85mm MAS and tha air lid but both of mine are SLP I dont no what brand you have. I had no problem with mine. You didnt say if you have the bellow or not but as long as the radiator and your airlid or MAS doesnt have direct contact it wouldnt I think hurt to trim it. PS Check and see if your fan shroud is all the way down on your radiator.
Granatelli 85mm MAF, Direct flo-lid. Should be getting LS1 bellow as soon as they remember to deliver it to me. I have seen the SLP hooked up and it fit nice, but it was hooked up to a ported stock MAF. So the extra width of the MAF and the oblong shape of the lid don't leave much clearance for them to fit on the schroud. I will check tonight about the fan clearance. Thanks
Yes, and it is driving me INSANE. I have tightened it at least three times since we hooked up, changed the clamp position, tugged on the bellow to help snug it up, and nothing. I was considering cutting a little valley for it to rest, but I think it is just defective. After seeing yours and the way it fit, the only diffeernce is I think I have the 85mm while you have the stock ported MAF, not to mention the fact that the SLP was also real snug around the filter. I will call them tomorrow. They told me to wait until I have the new below installed, but I don't see that making much of a difference.
BTW, how long does it take to get an appt. for a dyno tune?

I went with the Granatelli lid when I got the Granatelli MAF sensor. So, I haven't had any trouble with anything fitting. If you check www.texas-speed.com they claim to have the best lid and their lids are designed specifically for 75mm or 85mm MAF sensors.
I have the exact same setup as you. (Direc-Flow lid, Granatelli 85mm MAF, LS1 Motorsports bellow)
It took an hour to install it the first time. It is a VERY tight fit, and it was a pain in the butt to get the lid to clamp down once it was attached to the intake.
Later on, I took a knife and trimmed about 1-2 inches off the bellow, and I trimmed about an inch off the lid where it connects to the MAF using a dremel. I also removed the airbox support from the top of the radiator and cut out a rectangular chunk to allow the MAF to sit closer to the radiator. (It always rubbed against the airbox support.)
I don't have any problems now. The intake is very clean and its a direct shot for the incoming air. It took a lot of work, but it was worth it in the end.
Overall, I'm really satisfied with the intake components provided by LS1 Motorsports (Now: Quarter Mile Performance). However, I guess they could've designed them to fit a little better.
I just wanted to let you know that it will fit..... with a little modification.
Good luck!
