AC delete

I was told that in order to delete my AC pump, I needed the 1LE pulley to relpace it, but I see that the AC unit runs off of an independent belt. If this is the case, why do I need a pulley to replace it? Are there balancing issues? All help appreciated.

You don't need the delete pulley. Whoever told you that you did was confused. The LT1/LT4 or any other serpentine drive SBC would need the 1LE delete pulley. The LS1 based engines all have the AC driven independently of the other accessories, so the delete pulley is not needed. So remove the AC compressor, the dedicated tensioner and idler pulley for it along with the belt and thats it!

Why is this in the Advanced Tech forum?

Wrong forum.

But its easy to see why people can get confused, since he has both an LS1 and an LT1 in his signature. When you ask a question like this, you need to specifically state which car/engine you are asking about. Otherwise you run the risk of getting the wrong answer.
