Hi what exactly else does this thing do besides VATS system.I think I need to replace mine.Does this box have the chime Speaker that sounds off when the doors are open or when you leave something else like your head lights.My seems to no make that sound.When replacing this item does it specifically have to be for the exact same year?I know the 98 is totally diffrent.Vats Bcm works but the chime doesnt come on.

 

It's also where all the logic is for air bag deployment.

 

Just found out its also tied to other system connections, The seat belts, interior lighting,power door locks, keyless entry, retained accessory power (pwr windows, radio etc.), your rear hatch, the IP and the audible warnings for a start.Thats one of the reasons why I couldnt here my audible warnigs.My bad bcm will be repalced after finding that its tied to all sorts of other stuff.Wouldn't want it to mess up something else.
