I never eat or drink anything in my car.

6 Rules of my WS6...

1.) Absolutely NO food or drinks in car.
2.) Absolutely NO smoking in or around car.
3.) Check shoes and pockets before entering.
4.) Back seats are used only in an emergency situation, or if many attractive females need a ride.
5.) Maximum weight for male passengers=290lbs
Maximum weight for female passengers=130lbs
6.) You break it, you buy it.

bwaahahahaha! Back seats used only in an emergency. Thats funny. Dude, food isnt really an issue in the car. Checking shoes and pockets... man thats too much effort.. Its just a car. Someday it will be a pile of rust, so enjoy it while you can. I used to have rules too, but friends got all pissed off and didnt want to ride in the car because of it. Once rules are set, then that takes away the fun factor. My car is still squeeky clean and so far food hasn't been a real issue.

NEVER!

I've got a couple friends (also car guys) who know how hard it is to clean and maintain a car. Those are the ones I'll let eat in mine, because they'll be extra careful not to spill anything. It's the same when I'm in their cars. If I'm just giving some random chick a ride and she wants to pop open a soda in the back seat? Hell no.

As far as dirt and stuff goes...at least make an effort to wipe sand, salt, or any of that crap off your shoes and you're cool with me. It's the same thing as before, just having respect for someone else's stuff.

Oh, and back on topic...

darrens99formul said it all in his first post. He was fair to both sides in terms of advantages and disadvantages, I like seeing that. No need to say any more, really.

Exactly. And what I meant about checking your pockets is to make sure you don't have a knife or screwdriver that could poke a hole in the leather or scratch it. This is my dream car, and if someone f***ed it up, they would be in severe pain. Who needs friends when you have a black 6 speed WS6?

you will not smoke in my car!!! that and everything else Omega9
said .

Capn Petem, your point is very valid..... but in a comparison like this you are compairing hardware not driver skill. its a question between a4 vrs. m6. so technically you are both right but in this situation darrens99formul is correct. in fact i think he hit the nail on the head on this one. the mods should sticky it or something hehe.

but as someone who owns an m6... my !driver mod sucks!! worste mod evar!!! fast car slow driver. but then, you'll have that. personally i gotta go with the m6. just so much more fun to drive. hopefully one day i won't suck .

grannies name is on the insurance and she "owns" the car but is not allowed to drive it. everytime she does she messes something up and so i told her she has her own car so drive it....... she hasn't driven my car in 3 months

the reason i say this is hers is an 01 regal GS with 21K

my ws6 is an 00 with 34k on it and mine is in 2 times better condition then her car

wax it once every 2-3 weeks and oil changes every 2500 miles or less. she also complained because i modify the car so i told her she couldn't drive it if she complained one more time and the next week she did so i took her set of keys lol.... the car has been cleaner than it ever was before

Thumbs up

Damn!!!

This has got to be the first A4 vs, M6 thread with intelligent discussion in it in a veeeeeery long time! Usually it goes downhill from the second or third post down...

Like somebody already suggested, go and drive both. That way you see how they both feel and then make up your mind partially based on the feedback given here, but mostly based on your wants and needs.

Good luck!

5). not as strong. The T56 trans can handle a lot of power. The 4L60E gets iffy around 400-450 rwhp. You tend to hear of auto trannys going south easier and more often then the manuals after the bigger mods go in.
Don't forget that the A4 is so much easier on the rear end than an M6. The stock rear can take a lot more HP with the A4. Just look at the 11 sec cars out there. I know of a few M6's that have ripped out the stock rear, the A4's are runing 11's stock with no probs.

For all those reasons, that is why I have an A4.

any help for a noobie?
2.73 and 3.42 and such are the ratios of the rear end ring and pinion gears in these cars. auto cars for example may get a 2.73 to 1 or a 3.23 to 1 ratio while M6s get a 3.42 to 1 ratio.....the main reasoning behind this is that 6th gear in an M6 is HUGE (.5 to 1 allowing the bigger gear to work well for highway cruising....

heres a breakdown....

a 3.42 gear ration means for every 3.42 revolutions of the driveshaft, the tires will make 1 complete revolution....

the advantage to a bigger gear ratio is better acceleration but the cons are lower top speed and decreased gas mileage (highway cruising mileage anyway).

--for example my friends 93 formula is an a4 with a 4.10 to 1 rear....it accelerates like a monster but can only go 112 mph because it hits redline in high gear so quickly.....a 2.73 car of the same type would be no match for his car until he tops out....at which point the 2.73 car would run right past him up to about 140-150 or so.

--my car began as a 2.73 and would cruise at only about 1900 rpm at 70 mph on the highway....it accelerates waaaay better with the 3.42s that are in there now but will cruise at around 24-2500 rpm at 70, thus killing gas mileage....(not that i care lol)....

personally i would tell anyone looking for one of these cars to either buy a stick car, buy an auto car WITH the 3.23 ratio option or buy a 2.73 auto car and immediately swap the ratio up a bit.....2.73s are way too dead for these cars and hold them back a lot performance wise...

its late and im a bit tired but i hope this information is clear enough to answer ur question....

I just disagree with the any M6 is going to be faster then any A4 in the 1/4th statement.

SOme LS1s run high, high 12s and some even low, low 14s and both A4s and M6s are doing this. M6s and A4s run in that same ball park, A4s take less skill to drive and are more consistant and are more likely to back an e.t. up then an M6.

my camaro was an automatic but it had to be shifted manually, its nice to get away from that with this true automatic but i still have the habit of wanting to rest my arm on the center console and my hand on the shifter, i HATE that cup holder

Couldn't prove that by me .. the only result I had going form 3.23 to 3.73s was I was quicker at the top end ... 60s were the same, lost mph and ET in the first 660' and picked up mph and ET in the second 660'

Every T56 I've seen reach the 400 rwhp point also went south. The difference is the A4 can be strengthened ... At 400 rwhp the T56 just sort of becomes an ongoing problem at that point - an endless cycle of replacing the clutch and rebuilding the tranny ...
