A4 guys with 3.73's

Well I've got 3.73's on the way to replace my crap 2.73's. I had a few questions though. The first is, will they turn my gas mileage to complete crap? What kind of rpms are ya'll running at say, an 80 mph cruise? And lastly are they extremely hard on a rear end like some say? Oh and I suppose traction will most likely be a problem now right? Just wondering cause mine will sometimes catch 2nd with the stockers in it. Thanks in advance..

I had 3.73's in my A4 firebird. There will be a noticable decrease in gasmilage . Crusing at 80 mph you will be at 3000 rpm and you will top out at about 145-150 on a stock rev limiter. Since there are more teeth on the ring and pinion, they are not as thick, thus making then more brittle and MAY break easier. However I loved them in my a4 and made a bid difference especially with a high stall TC. Have fun

Sounds good 35th. Guess I'll just have to be careful . Thanks for answering as well, I couldn't get anyone else to on the other boards.. Did you put your LT's on? If so, were they a big pain in the a**?

Ya, my friend and I installed them. We had no previous experience with LS1 headers. It took about 7 hours (w/ 45 min lunch). The only trouble we had was squeezing the passenger side header in and extending the wires... well they were just time consuming. What year/car do you have?
