98 ls1 computer ?

What is the difference in the 98, and the 99-02 computers. I was interested in buying a programmer/scanner for my 98 but can't seem to find one. I did a search and came up short. Thanks,
Dave

from what i heard on horsepower tv. the 97-and 98 models you need to send your vin number whatever you have done to the car and they will make one specifically for your car. the 99 and up models are easier to program. hope this helps

I researched this a while back, and I think I still remember...it has something to do with the computer's Mhz. The '98 operates at like 11.6 Mhz. or something and the '99-ups operate at 12 Mhz. That's why companies like GMS make the predator for the '99-ups since they're similar, but the '98's are much different. There were only around 75,000 Camaro's made in '98 and less than 1/2 were Z28's, so it's not as profitable to make a programer just for the few '98's as it is for the '99's-up.

Question

I feel your pain, but just so they know, I would buy a predator in a heart beat. But for now I think I will send it to PCM4less. What have you guys heard about them?

I plan to send mine to Ed Wright in the next couple of weeks. I just completed my LS6 install and need to have it done soon.
