98 EGR delete

My friend has a 98 z28 and he has the egr blocked off but he didnt delete it out of the pcm he says (just bought the car) and it idles rough for a couple seconds. Would not having the egr deleted out of the pcm cause this?

Re: 98 EGR delete

I'd contribute the rough idle to a possible leak around the blockoff.

sounds like normal warm up to me...even mine does that...always has.

and the EGR would be running alot longer than a few seconds...like a few minutes would be more like it...so why would taht be the problem.

Re: 98 EGR delete

All it does is send a signal to the pcm and it shows a code when its not plugged in[removing the EGR].....I removed the hoses and made a custom bracket to hold the little air pump and left it plugged in...but took out the air & egr hoses, etc.

No SES light at all.
