89,000 mi too many?

Is 89,000 mi on a LS1 too many miles? It has a rebuilt tranny and looks to be in great condt. The guy wants 8900 for the car and it is a 98. Here is teh ad for it. http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...dist=13#vdptop It has a few other mods but he just told them to me over the phone none that were a huge deal other than Brembos all around.

It sounds like a good deal, but as for the longevity, it depends on how you take care of it and how the previous owner(s) took care of it.

It all depends on how well its taken care of. I've seen some F-bodys with 50k miles on them and they look like crap. That one looks pretty nice in the photos. You should be able to tell by looking at it, paint condition, especially interior condition. I bought my 99 Silverado w/98,000 and honestly it looks like it has 35,000. Well taken care of, and no problems at all.

sounds like a solid deal, try to get it for less though, stab at it as if u were a mustang lover and talk em down a bit, i got my 99 convertible w/ 6spd w/ 71k miles for $9000. private sellers are awesome.

Those miles are fine as long as the previous owners took care of the car. Both of my 4th gens have had over 100k, looked great, and ran great. If you are not comfortable with your automotive skills, just have someone you trust look it over. If there is a speed shop in your area, take it there.
