87 octane in hot weather
Ok, i thought i'd break it down barney style so theres no longer any confusion about octane booster. the stuff you buy in the store is what... 110 octane... ok i'll say 115 to give you even more "points" on your side.
sooooo you people really think adding 16 oz's of 115 octane to 15 gallons will give you 7 FULL points of octane boost? well lets do the math. 15 gallons is 1920 ozs..
(1920 x 87 octane) + (16 x 115 octane) / 1936=
167040+1840=168880/ 1936=87.23 octane
theres your 2 "points"
Well lets try it in 5 gallons of 87... thats probably how they got 7 "points"
640 x 87 octane + 16 x 115 octane / 656
55680+1840 = 57520 /656= 87.68.....
oh theres our 7 "points"
I really hope you all learned something today about octane boosters and the fact you need to add a couple gallons of toluene to get a true octane boost.

BETTER IDEA
Yeah I live in phoenix area also.....My camaro sits in the garage with half a tank of 91 octane....
I drive my chevy truck full time now (runs great on 87) plus 26 gallon tank....gas shortage SUCKS!!!!!

For the 11 billionth time, the LS1 has two spark tables. High and low. If it senses enough knock, it'll go to the different table. So you won't have constant knock, it will run fine.
Octane booster in a can will not do crap, as already described. Xylene is the best IMO. 117 octane, available at Lowes.
13 Gallons of 87 + 1 Gal of Xylene = 89.1
12 Gallons 87 + 2 Gal of Xylene = 91.3
If you want to use Xylene, go to an autoparts store and get some Marvel mystery oil (use automatic transmission fluid if you can't find MMO). 2 oz per gallon of Xylene.

Me + (Math or Chemistry) = t3H suCk
That points system is very misleading, I can't believe those companies get away with that. Heres a link to ways to raise your octane level, including toluene.
