I have a 98 A4 Trans Am. Bought at 58K - mileage now nearing 81K. Only things I've had go wrong are:

Fuel pump (ran out of gas - my fault)
Warped rotors
Power antenna

I change the oil about every 5-7K using Mobil 1 and just flushed the transmission fluid (still shifts perfectly). I have little to no oil consumption and no piston slap.

Overall it's been very reliable. Haven't even changed the plugs yet.

I have 67K on mine. It's been to the track a few times. I had a small leak in the pinion seal at 63K. She runs like a champ

mine has 95+kms which is about 70000miles. no problems. does use oil but that is normal. just had the car dynoed and it is still laying down good numbers with no stumbles or diffuculties. seems to be an awesome engine.

70,500 and I have owned it for about 3 months. PCV valve, needed complete fuel flush, fuel pump, 2 injectors, 2 02 sensors, PCM said to replace itself- so they did, window motor, rebuilt amp. WOW, I have a new car! Still runs great though, 13.625 in the 1/4 all stock, now too bad .

62000 miles and I've had the infamous o2 sensor code and a small leak (wet around the rear end) in the rear differential. Wasn't even a bad enough leak that they would fix it under the warranty because they said it would run about $1000 to fix it and would have to pull the whole rear (that was a bunch of BS from the warranty company). So I have watched it the last year or so and it is ok now.

I have never tuned it up or changed any spark plugs and it still runs great. I think it is probably time to do that though.

Just curious, Did you car burn oil at all before? Like at 25-30K? Or has it always burned oil?
Also how did you find out the cats were bad?

I bought the car used with 30K on it. The car has always consumed oil. But, since I don't get blue smoke out the back, I'm not really worried about it.

I found out the cats were bad (actually, just the passenger side, but dealer replaced both) when I threw a code. There is a TSB for 2000 and early 2001 production cars that got a bad batch of cats.
