6-Speed Transmission Problems 99 Z28?
I have a 99 Z28 w/ a 6-speed transmission and 50K miles. I have really enjoyed the 6-speed but recently it seems to have slop. It seems to be more noisy than usual. I can be rolling in neutral and hear a clicking noise sometimes. I don't know if it is something in my rear end or the transmission. I am going to be taking it to the dealer to get checked out soon, but wanted to hit up the list first. I was talking to a friend at work and he has a 2002 w/ a 6 speed and has had two new transmission in 25K miles. He was having a lot of problems with it slipping out of gear. This is my first Camaro and am glad to own one. I searched the board and did not find much on problems with the 6-speed transmission. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had problems with their 6 speed too or would like to share any stories.
A GM technician at my dealer said the 6-speeds where "bullet proof" .
Thanks for the help!

I just got my car, it's got 43500 on it. 500 from me abusing it.
I don't have a problem with my tranny. I'm pretty sure it's still the stock clutch in there too. Maybe? This is my first manual car, so I'm not aware of all the possible problems, but from what I can tell, nothing is wrong with mine.

Right now my car is at the GM dealership I bought the car from. They say nothing is wrong with my transmission, but I refuse to pickup the car till they do something about it. There is a ton of slop in the drivetrain, everytime you engage/disengage the clutch, there is a jolt throughout the vehicle. They say they can't duplicate the problem. Also I cannot put the car directly in first or reverse some of the time. it's like my tranny mount is broke, or the clutch is fubar. It's done this since ~500 miles on the car. Of course they see the car is lowered (done after problems began) and blame it on that, and the skip-shift bypass. I never drive the car because of how annoying it is to shift.
