Just curious, LT1's with 60K on them seem to take a Cam just fine...

58K is just fine. People on here do cam swaps in the 80's and 90's. If you want a nice increase for a DD, I'd suggest something in the 224-228 range...preferably something with a 114LSA. That should net you a solid 25-30hp gain without sacrificing driveability. Just my $0.02...

i havent lost any drivability on mine. i dont use it as a dd on a steady basis but if i had too i can, as long as i keep the milage under 5k/ yr for emissions

i'd highly recomend chaning the valve springs with the cam but yeah 58K as long as you can do a good compression test and the cylinders are all pretty even go for it.

Futral Motorsports makes a great line of camshafts.
My LS1 has nearly 80,000 miles on it.

I did a cam at almost 100k miles and haven't had any problems. I went relatively small on mine, 224/228, .578/.578.

I'm above 60K and will be getting cammed +/an Ls6 intake May 1st.
226/226 .590/.590 112. Going with Patriot Gold springs and LS2 chain.

I OBVIOUSLY know nothing about doing a cam swap, I had no idea there was an ideal milage point to do it..! What else should i know about it? I was planning on doing a H/C swap out when i hit 100k~ish or whenever i have a major problem.

The ideal time is when you have the cash flow and while your engine is still in good working order.

More power = more stress on the motor. Common sense says that a high mileage motor isn't going to live as long as a lower mileage motor when you start putting serious mods to it.

I would just buy a forged 402ci shortblock for under $4000 and mod that if you have that much mileage.
