500 Rwhp Possible?
500 Rwhp Possible?
I am not to knowledgeable about the lsx motors since i started with an LT1 but I am just wondering if i will be able to pull 500Rwhp out of my build.
408 iron stroker.
12cc mahle pistons
L76 intake 90mm tb
42# SVO injectors
L92 heads milled to 65cc chambers and some exhaust porting.
patriot gold springs
custom street able cam in the 240'S
dyno tuned
built 4-l60e with 3600 stall
3.73 rear gear.
stock LSx WP
no ac or emissions
Spun to about 62-6500 rpm
just a basic build looking to make good power.

Going through an auto is going to be a crapshoot to get 500rwhp even with a 408 like that.
Any reason you're going with 12cc pistons? Some pistons with valve reliefs and no dish would work more nicely. The setup you're using is going to be around 10.3:1 using 0 deck, 14cc pistons, 4.03 bore and 4.0 stroke with 65cc heads.
A better idea would be to use some 5cc pistons and a .040" Cometic gasket to raise the compression or simply mill the heads down into the high 50s.
These motors LOVE compression. Going somewhere in the high 11s or even low 12s would be optimal for 93 octane.

I partially agree with the above, I'd stick more compression in it.
My question is this though, why 500hp. I'd pick a real world track or performance number you are after. If you want a 10 second daily driver on motor, thats one thing. If you want a high 11 second car on a radial thats another, and they are two completely different animals.
I've seen cars hit 500 to the tire get walked by cars that make 380, especially with an automatic.
