400hp goal : Safest and economical way

Subject says it all.... I got the car a month ago and wondering what would be best to push this amount of power. I bought LS1/LS6 performance book but sure enough it doesn't say much... I was thinking full exhaust done longtubes and some kind of catback system. SLP Lid, K&N, TB bypass, EGR mod (98), free ram air. And then I don't really have a clue and I don't know the gains that I will have acquired.

If a good guide would be out it would be easy to modify those cars... Also one more thing that I dislike is the thousands of forums on the LS1.... We should concentrate the information on one forum... Just my .02....

For 400rwhp, you'd need a full list of bolt-ons and a cam (most likely at least a 224/224 112) with dyno tuning.

400 crank won't be as hard. Intake (lid or FIPK,) full exhaust (headers, y-pipe, catback,) and other bolt-ons/free mods (pulley, free ram-air, TB bypass, etc) will get you damn close. Since you have an auto, I'd guess once you're around 330-340 to the wheels you'll have around 400 at the crank.

Full Intake, Exhaust, LS6 intake mani, and an LS6 cam should put you around 360rwhp... which is an easy 400+ crank... although the LS6 cam doesn't do much for the track.

I would have to say

headers
catback
ypipe
Lid
F.A.S.T intake
Cam- to your liking

then you will wanna beef up the tranny and the rear end.

Torque converter
Gears
Girdle
tranny cooler
shift kit

better tires

The FAST intake is a little bit like the LS6 intake but better so they say. The price is a steep 750$ just a bit too much for me.
http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...ategoryid=1023

SLP lid : 85$ + 10hp
SLP header's, cats and y pipe kit : 1299$ + 20hp
http://www.lmperformance.com/929/1.html
Smooth bellow from ebay : 22$ + 5hp
Catback ?
I was thinking maybe flowmaster, hooker, or magnaflow... The loudmouth is supposed to be too loud when put together with headers. What is the gain expected with this.
Cam?
I am not a beginner when working on cars but that seems a little bit advanced for me and I don't like to have mecanics work around my car too much. As long as it would be a board member it is ok lol. How much does those cost and where can I get them. Gain in hp would be great.

Transmission side :
What is a girdle ? How easy is to install a torque converter ? Shift kit?

i disagree,i trapped 110 with this cam on stock manifolds, stock slp catback, gears and converter.nothing special but this cam makes descent and noticeable power.

400 rwhp with an auto youll need all boltons plus a cam.a converter is recommended but will rob some HP but who cares itll lower your ET big time.

I'd try the MTI stealth 2 cam with all bolt-on's, also go with atleast a 3500 stall.

With my mods I'm made 391 rwhp and 380 rwtq.

Good Luck.
