2002 SS specs

This one kid I know keep talking down the Horsepower numbers on my 2002 SS.. I keep telling that it is has the 345 horsepower SLP option but he refuses to believe me. He keeps saying that its 325. Please throw in your guys input on this subject so I can show him and what would your estimates be on my flywheel horsepower?

I know that in 2002 there were a few different factory ratings based on the particular package you ordered. The base was rated at 310 HP, but I know I've heard #'s from 325 HP to 345 HP for the different packages (maybe 325 HP was from a '98 - '00 SS?? ). Regardless, the only real difference between base and the "performance" SS was the exhaust AFAIK, which you've changed for a Loudmouth anyways. Also, the lids are supposed to be good for about ~10 HP I think, so knowing that the LS1 is a 350 (crank) HP engine to start ("roughly", same as Corvette) then with the aftermarket lid and cat-back, it should be making at least a true 350 crank HP, or maybe 360~ish. I guess we need someone else with a 345 HP SS / WS6 to come confirm this one though. I know it's not .

Doesn't it say on the SLP sticker? I know it lists the SLP options so I'd think it would list the "345HP package/option."

Estimate on HP? Who knows...there's such a variance between one LS1 and another that it's really tough to say. You may have a "freak" that's making 370+hp...or you may have an average LS1, in that case, 345hp would be almost dead-on.

PS- It's Nitto not Nittro

Oh and I wasn't factoring in your other mods (pullies, LM and SSRA). Add about 10-12hp...or 15-18hp if you're going really fast.

The factory horsepower and torque ratings for the 2002 Camaro SS are as follows.

Stock Camaro SS no SLP options....325HP/350TQ
Camaro SS with optional SLP exhaust.....335HP/350TQ
Camaro SS with optional SLP ehaust and lid.....345HP/350TQ

The optional exhausts availible from SLP were the "dual/dual" it has twin splitter exhaust tips. And the "CME" Center Mount Exhaust. The optional lid was a joint venture between SLP and Blackwing.

One of my friends was telling me the other day that the 325hp number is the one most often used in magazines. That could be where the kid got it from.

There were TWO window stickers on a 2002 SS.

One was the factory sticker, which looked something like this:

http://www.phantomss.com/oldsite/cam...ker/index.html

And there was a SECOND SLP sticker, which had additional items such as floor mats, chrome wheels, Hurst shifter, and also a 345 hp package that included things like SLP lid, exhaust, etc.

Sooner or later I am gonna have to scan my second sticker.

The best way would be to just get the car dynoed.. That way you can show him what your car puts to the ground.. Then go to the track and get some runs in.. As you learn more about your car, you will put down some faster numbers..

If you have a 2002 with the 345hp option then you should be able to just open your passenger side door for this fellow and show him the option sticker...*shrug*

My 2002 SS has the SLP option sticker on the passenger side door that lists all of the options SLP added to the car...

The problem is my car is in storage. With the weather here in PA I doubt I will have it on and on the roads for another week or so. Is there any creditable website that shows the 345 HP numbers that I can show this guy before I kill him??? I have the dual/dual exhaust and lid on my SLP options window sticker. But I cant shove that in his face for another week or so. So if there are any websites that will help please inform me.

I am not sure how much more proof you need other than the window sticker that came right off my car, whcih I linked in my post above. Do I need to take a pciture of it holding up today's newspaper?
