2002 noises

Hey guys, I just bought a 2002 6spd and I have a couple of questions. First I hear a noise coming from the passenger side of the engine when under moderate or w/o throttle. It sounds kinda like exaust but I'm not used to that sound coming from that area of the car. It doesn't sound like an exaust leak. More like an exaust droan. Also if I rev the car with the clutch disengaged the revs don't come back down very quickly. It is almost like the throttle is slow to close or something. Thanks to anyone who can help with these questions. Just thought maybe some of you might have experienced these already and could let me in on it if it's anything I should be concered with.

The revving thing sounds normal. Also, when you go WOT for the 1-2 shift and then say pop it out of gear, the RPMs will sometimes hang around 2000-2500 for a little bit because the PCM expected you to continue the WOT application.

My 2002 does the same deal with the revs.... kinda goes up and down slower than you'd expect. This is normal. I don't have an answer for your exhaust Q. Mine doesn't do that. It's probably better than my valvetrain noise. It sounds like a bunch of bolts rattling under my hood at idle. I have the car at the dealer now to replace the oil pump seal....there is a tech bulliten out for excess valve noise as a result of a faulty seal.

I was thinking that something might be wrong with the cat on that side but damn this thing is no slouch. barks third with ease on new F1s. only had the car about 4hrs. and aready put the smack down on a newer carrera on the highway. Maybe the noise will go away if I put some headers and cat-back on it....Hmmm.............
