2002 Camaro SS Heads and Cam Help

It is time to do heads and a cam; please tell me what you think is best for the LS1? I want awsome streetability and it will never see the strip. I was looking at a port and polished LS1 head from the fbody central shop in Baltimore, MD and a custom comp cam 228/228 .588 .588 LSA 112. Give me your thoughts and what you would look at.

Do you plan on running a power adder? What gears do you have?
Ive done many large cams in these cars. And still maintained great gas miles. And great performance. Its alot to do with the tuning. Do you know the flow numbers of the heads? What are you planning on doing with this car in the long run?

that cam with a set of mild ported heads should yield nearly 425rwhp and be pretty street friendly with a good tune.

i'd say you're on the right track

I was looking up the AFR 205 heads as well with 66cc. I hear they are bad *** and make better power then other heads??? Is that a better head then from some one who will take my stock heads and machine them? What about the TSP torquer V3 cam to go with that as well; is that to much?

It looks like Edelbrock or AFR 205 are very strong choices any dyno's or experiences?

Look at my dyno graft. Dart heads with a 220/224 LSA 112 .596/.591 lift.

You said full exhaust - how full is it (ie - cats, catback, duals)?

I'm running a 232/238 with a polished set of 241's and the car put down ~420rwhp through high flow cats and the stock centermount exhaust. I drive it to work every day while there's no snow around. Couldn't be happier. I'd suggest something around the 230's as the driveability is all in the hands of the tuner. Check out the Torquer v.2 and see if that's something you could live with.

The other option could be to go with a slightly milder cam and a ported 5.3 head that would up your compression. Something in the mid-high 220's with .560~.580 lift.

AFR205's or ETP215's are the best heads for a stock bottom end. Add to either heads the 228/228 112 you mentioned + a fast 90/90 and you'll be a smokin fast street friendly ****

I went with the PRC 200cc Terminators from Texas Speed and their 228R cam. I have to admit they are am awsome company to buy things from period. I ordered the heads, cam, gaskets, pushrods, and everything from them. Zach is the man to talk too; he'll save you some time and money. I hope the Terminators are as good as they say.
