z28

it has a ls1 with some ls6 features. i believe the intake manifold is one. looking at 310hp. as far as the price, see if you can talk them any, but with the low miles, id still jump on it.

Z28 and SS are the same power wise.. for every SS that makes more power out there bone stock, *although an SS has exhaust there is a Z28 that can make more power bone stock *even without exhaust

Its often refferd to as an appearance package or an appearance handling package.. Rarely a power package, although there was a 345hp option that included a lid. (345 was not the power put down to the rear wheels though)

If you like it, get it.. plain and simple.

You can do so checking around and you will be able to pop the hood and see if it has an LS6 block.. not an engine but the block which has larger openings in the chambers to make the down stroke easier.. most use the bullseye method. bullseye = ls1 block. do a search on factory ls6 block.

the 2001 and 2002 models have ls6 intake and Z06 clutch from what i have read. plus a few extra changes.. but I personally love mine. and its bone stock

Plus you can get a better aftermarket exhaust for your Z28 than the one that comes on your SS. IMO Cutout =

That seems pretty high. I paid around $18900 for mine brand new(I ordered it) Although when you buy neew you get the incentives of rebates. Unless it is fully loaded it should be much cheaper, and I think even fully loaded it shouldn't be over $20000.

18,900 for a brand new '02 Z28??? are you sure it wasn't a V6??? if you got a brand new '02 Z28 for 18,900, then we all got screwed... (considering that when i bought my 99 brand new, the base price for a Z28 w/ no options was around 21,000)

Well when I look under the hood it isn't a V6. I special ordered mine from the dealer. I used the Powerbroker internet feature that chevrolet has at a lot of their dealerships. Basically it is their internet salesperson for that dealership. I emailed several in the area and told them what I wanted and asked for their best price quote. When one would give me a price I would send it to the others to beat. When I finally found the lowest I could get I ordered it from him. I ordered a 1SC option code which basically means stripped Camaro. My only options were Hurst shifter, leather steering wheel with the radio controls and Tan leather seats(manually adjusted) No power seats, mirrors, windows, cruise, rear defrost, side molding,etc... I had $2002 rebate from Chevy, a $1000 Camaro legends tour rebate, and a $500 college grad rebate. $18,900 out the door including tax and tags after all of my rebates.

I bought my 02 for brand new $24,500, and that is loaded. It stickered at $28,500. but I got the $2000 GM rebate and they took $2000 off MSRP. So I think 23K is high for a used one. And for the horsepower question: The Z28 has a LS1 aluminum 5.7 liter engine, factory rated at 310 HP, but mine puts 322 to the wheels. Gm really underrates the HP

You're talking about the anniversary edition ... the red one with the silver checkered-flag stripes, right? If so, then jump on it! Otherwise, I'm gonna over there and buy it.

I had shopped around and also checked out KBB.com and edmunds.com before I started looking. A used Z28 dealer price was about 19k - 20K as listed on the net. I bought my 2002 Z28 used in August with most options (M6, Traction Control, leather, power and T-tops) for 21K with only 2500 miles. Compared to other Z's in my area, the others either didn't have the options I was looking for or the condition wasn't up to my liking. This car was in great condition and I wanted it bad since the mileage was so low. Try to talk them down and mention places you looked so they know you have been looking. If you have carmax dealers in your area, (www.carmax.com) they are a good source for a no haggle price that you can also compare with. Goodluck and believe me you will be happy with a Z28 knowing you get to add so many great mods to an already great car.
