2000 WS6 broke serpentine belt... what kind of damage??

So I had picked up my 2000 WS6 T/A yesterday, and me and my buddy were rolling down a common state road (route 3 for the locals) about 105-110mph, slammed on the brakes to make a turn, and made it. Put the car in 2nd (M6) and got back on the gas like a grandma, and there was a LOOOUUUUD squeel. The guy I bought it from told me the bearings needed to be changed in the rear but you didn't hear it until about 80 or so, then it was noticeable.

Anyways, I picked up speed to about 40 or 45mph and it went away within 4-6 seconds. I thought it was the bearings about to seize the rear from the abuse I had just forced on it not a minute earlier. Anyways, after the squeel went away, about 10 seconds later going down the road "Check Brakes" comes on, and 2 seconds after that, "Service Engine Soon" comes on and I immediately look at the coolant temp. PEGGED! So I immediately shut the car off and let it coast to an intersection where it sat until my buddy came to pick it up.

So when we got there I just started it back up so I could drive it onto the trailer, and I had it running for a good 3-4 minutes and the temp SLOWLY started to creep back up. My buddy told me it was just because the belt wasn't turnin the water pump so it wasn't pumping anything. Somehow, therefore, it was coming back out of the reservoir and thats why it was spewing coolant. I don't think any major damage has been done, because of how long it took for the temp to start rising again, and how slowly it was rising. It sat at 210 for a couple minutes before it started going back up. The motor sounded and ran fine.

I'm still worried about the rear. Check Brakes lights... is that because of the belt breaking and coming off or is it because something seriously went wrong with the rear? When the lights came on, the steering got VERY tough (because of the power steering), but it seemed like the brakes were sticking?? I don't know because I was freaking out when all of this was happening so it's very tough to remember? What kind of bearings usually go out in the rear? Axle bearings? Main Bearings? What? Thanks a million

the brakes and ABS lights will come on when there are major electrical situations occuring, such as the altinator not turning anymore due to the belt falling off.

as long as no damage was done by the overheat condition your fine.
