2000 SS rated hp???

Hey Guys!

Ok, I find this fairly amazing but I've been doing web searches and searches here for the last hour and I have yet to be able to find a straight answer to my questions! I think the questions are fairly basic too but I can't seem to find the answers

If you LS1 experts would be willing to give me hand, I'd appreciate it

First off, all I'm looking for is the FACTORY RATING... I know they dyno much higher than this but I don't care... just looking for the factory numbers

I have this car here (still for sale but not $19,500 anymore. LOL!) and you'll see that it has the $699 performance exhaust option.

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/misc/2000ss.htm

My questions are...

1) What is the hp rating of a stock 2000 Z28?

2) What is the hp rating of a base 2000 SS?

3) How much, if any, does the $699 performance exhaust option add to the 2000 SS?

I'm pretty sure the answer to #1 above is 305. The answer to #2 I think is 320. For number #3 I think I remember hearing it adds 15 hp so it is 335 but I can't find that written down anywhere.

Can somebody confirm #1 and #2 and maybe throw me an answer for #3?

Again, don't care about actual rwhp numbers (there is plenty of that data out there!) but just looking for the factory ratings.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the response. But, that's the answers I was seeing before... the "I think" answers with two numbers but not really sure

I was wondering if somebody knew for sure what the factory ratings were?

Thanks!

I was doing all this intense research on it for you and started a long post when I finally stumbled across a nice little compiled list over at Afterthoughts Auto regarding their factory ratings dash plates.

Check it out here . . .

I'm 100% sure the '00 Z28's rating was 305 HP. GM didn't increase it to 310 HP until '01.

I'm pretty sure the SS with the optional exhaust was rated at 325 because every base LS1 SS made 320 before '01.

'98-'00 Z28's were rated at 305hp/335tq

'98-'00 SS's were rated at 320hp/345tq

I have read (on some SS owners website) that with the SLP exhaust, the rating was bumped up to 330hp. I dunno if that's true or not. Sorry Brent

320 hp is the factory rating of the 00 SS. In 01 they bumped it to 325.

Thats BS on the exhaust system costing that much. You can get it directly from SLP for ~$350. Apparently the guy was dumb and over paid for it as a "factory" option. No to mention I've seen many dual/duals sell w/ very few miles on them for under $200.

It isn't fully loaded w/all the goodies either. Or it would have the full SLP package w/the SLP air lid, Auburn differential, and BFG tires. Not to mention the nicer looking SS grill.

Its a nice car, but not what he's making it out to be. That and its a bit over priced. I was looking at 2000 SS's at dealerships a year ago that were that price.

So you are thinking the optional exhaust added 5 hp?

Ok... looks like we have the stock Z28 and base SS hammered out but so far for the upgraded exhaust it looks like either 325, 330, or 335

Cool. That number is being repeated enough now I have confidence that's that real one

Hey... that's just what the sticker reads. Also, rarely are cars ordered by customers but instead the customer goes to a lot, sees a car they like, and buy it even when there are maybe a couple options they wouldn't have picked had they custom ordered it. I don't think I'd call the original purchaser of the car "dumb" though On my own SS the Hurst shifter was a $399 upgrade and IMO it is no better than stock and no where near worth $399 but it was on the car so what am I gonna do?

Sorry. That is my car and I made the page and it was my error when I said ALL. But, I was using the term a bit more loosely than yourself it appears But, I wasn't specific as to if I was talking about all the Z28 goodies or ALL the SLP goodies so I suppose I might not be wrong

If you'll look above, I said that price was not correct. I made the page a year ago and that was the going price or a little less. I haven't actively tried to sell the car. I haven't driven the car in a year and I'm now selling it for $16,900 so basically taking $2500 off the price for a couple hundred more miles.

The 315hp for 98-99 model Camaro SS is incorrect.

Here are all the actual factory rated numbers. These are derived from dealer brocheures and various auto magazines.

1998-2000 Camaro Z28....305HP/335TQ
1998-2000 Camaro SS......320HP/345TQ
1998-1999 Camaro SS......327HP/345TQ (optional SLP exhaust)
2000 Camaro SS...............330HP/345TQ (optional SLP exhaust)
2001-2002 Camaro Z28....310HP/340TQ
2001-2002 Camaro SS......325HP/350TQ
2001-2002 Camaro SS......335HP/350TQ (optional SLP exhaust)
2002 Camaro SS........345HP/350TQ (optional SLP lid & exhaust)

I've never understood why the 98-99 SS w/optional exhaust was rated 327HP and the 2000 SS being virtually the same was rated 330HP with the same optional exhaust. The 2000 SS had different exhaust manifolds and cat locations as opposed to the 98-99.
