2000 SS M6 -- Duhh: Where is the PCV?

At the front of the engine and part of the intake manifold right behind the throttle body on the passeger side is a hose connection. The rubber hose connected here is about four inches long. Pulling off the section of rubber hose reveals an inline fitting that look like a PCV valve end but the rest of this metal contraption is covered in an insulating rubber There is also what seems to be a ground wire connected to this. About three inches further the hose becomes a rigid plastic tube. Is this my PCV? And, does it just pull off of the rigid plastic tube? -- I don't want to break anything. I have the dreaded LS1 high oil consuption with no puddle and no smoke. I want to change the PCV and install a catch can.

Whatever you described that looks like a PCV valve is it. Just pull it out.

Pictures? show us what you are talking about, it'll make it an easier diag, but what it sounds like is the pcv. Put a breather there and smile.

Yep that's the PCV valve. The ground wire clips around the body of the valve and the valve just pulls out of the insulation and tube that it's plugged into.
