1999 Camaro Z28 Oil Change
#2
there really is no "best" oil or oil filter. Mobil one makes excellent synthetic, and for that reason I use Mobil one high mileage and the recommended weight. I have used Mobil one and K&N oil filters. I have never had an issue.

As far as oil goes it's recommended to use whatever the previous owner use. I would NOT switch from conventional to synthetic.
My car has had Mobil 1 in it since day 1, so that's what I use.
I like Wix filters but I'd recommed Delco or Mobil 1 filters as well.

i buy the least expensive full synthetic & fram tough guard filter (i like the black gripping stuff). if i could afford it i'd use royal purple. ps i run my car to 6100 rpm with no problems.

i always use mobile 1 on my DD and royal purple on the garage queen...
and filters... ac delco for the queen and frams for a while on my DD...
BUT
recently i was given some good GOOD info. if you look at a fram or even mobile 1 oil filter... the smaller outter holes around the center hole are the holes where the oil enters the filter and the large center hole is the hole for filtered oil entering your engine.... Now that's outta the way...
Those inlet holes are really small on frams and mobile 1. You are better off getting a $2-3 stp filter making sure the oil volume stays the same... it's always best to just use a delco oil filter.
esp if you have long tubes. my queen has the supermaxx system installed and i can only use a certain cup wrench to get the filter off, not a wrench or anything else...
Keep that in mind.

im not personally a fan of stp filters. their quality is decent, but their filter media isnt the best. even they only claim to filter 90%. i like the mobil 1 extended performance filters. they use a synthetic glass media for filtering, and oil pressure is excellent with them.
