1998 Z28 Mod list - please make suggestions
I have a 1999 Z28 and here is what I just ordered:
SLP intake
SLP Exhaust
Hypertech
3.42 gears
Airfoil
Now, I don't want to crack the engine open or crack the trans open.
And I am not looking to go to the track on a regular basis (decided against a supercharger).
But what else would you do or add to get to a 13.0 quarter time?
Thanks

how are you putting an airfoil on an LS1????
definatly do a stall converter...although i would have gone with 373s instead of the 342s
you should be well on your way to a 13.0 with those mods and traction...maybe get some LCAs and drag radials.
how bout an ls6 intake? or maybe a tune from madwolf...particularly if you add a 160 deg stat and have him lower the fan temps

Hello,
I want to go with the 3.42's to keep the car streetable.
Plus I do a good amount of highway driving.
What stall would you go with (brand name and stall speed?)
I decided on hypertech because if I decide to change anything, I can
just reprogram myself.
The 160 stat is what I was told to do, is the stat a good thing to do?

the stat has it's yeah-sayers....and nay-sayers
i personally have had a lower stat on my past 3 camaros...all ran great and were noticably cooler running around town and in the highway (all in florida). none of the cars had reprogrammed fans, so it still got hot as stock when in HEAVY traffic.
as for gears, i think you only really gain 3-400 rpms on the highway with 373s. i doubt you'll even notice a difference just doing the 342s...possibly if you have the crappy 273s.

There are better than hypertech programmers. Diablosports Predator, Vinici Hiperformance/Crane. Check them out.
Don't waste your $ on a hypertech tsat. Installuniversity.com has instructions on how to make your stock tsat open at lower temps.

If all you're concerned about is getting a good time, then practice driving at the track. Even if you load your car up woth mods, it'll still take good driving skills to get best time out of it, I know, I'm still learning to drive and launch correctly at the track myself.
My time below was done in 80 degree weather with a 2.2 60'. As my car stands right now, if I lowered my 60' to a 2.0 and ran in 50 degree weather, I know I can get around a 13.1-2@106-7 with my car. The air and the driver play a large part in getting a nice time.
