1998 Z28 with a Corvette LS1?

Does anyone know if any of the 1998 Z28's came with the Corvette LS1? When I purchase parts such as oil filters, temperature sensor, the ones shown for the 98 Z won't work. I have to order the parts for a 1998 Corvette. example, at Auto Zone the recommended oil filter is a (Fram)PH30. It is too big. I ended up using the (Fram) PH3506 for a 1998 Vette. I had the same problem when I needed a Temperature Sensor. I tried to get the block casting number, but you need to pull the engine to get to it. Thanks in advance for any response

The LS1 is the same but the Vette has a different oil pan and filter. I don't know about the temp sensor. I know the core engine parts are the same, but for packaging from a C5 to a F-body would cause some parts to be different. This would be a better question in the LS1 engint tech forum.

Thanks 99SilverSS. You may have answered my question. I have the part number for the oil pan. I'll check to see if it is for a Z28 or the vette. It's frustrating. I keep forgetting to order parts for a 98 Vette and have to make the trip back to the parts store.

An LS1 with a Corvette pan won't fit in an F-body at all.

Go to a used car lot with a Z28 and I'm sure they'll tell you it has a "Corvette engine."

The correct filter for the 98 Camaro is the 3506. The 30 was an LT1 filter.

Not all years were the same. The tune is different, the exhaust manifolds are different, and the cams were different in the early years. I don't recall ever seeing a C5 with an EGR system either.

Cams:
Dur, Lift, Lobe spread
F-body`98-`00
198/209 500/500 119.5
Corvette `97-`99
199/207 472/479 117
`00 Corvette
198/209 500/500 115.5
All LS1 cars `01 -up
196/207 467/479 116

If you need parts for your car and aren't sure because the Autozone computer is f**ked up, have them look up a '99 Z28. Chances are better the part will be the one you're looking for vs. looking up a C5.
