17x10 Inch Wheels!!!

Ok question,

1) Will a 17x10 inch wheel fit under the stock 2002 WS6 TA.
2) If so, Does it stick out of the body?

i want to buy the Boyd Coddinton Fury's but they only come in 17x10. Any of u guys see any handling difference or anything performance wise coming from a 10 inch instead of a 9?

I figure, if you fool around with the offset, you cuold probably fit them in perfectly. If the 17x11 guys can make them barely fit, perhaps 17x10 rim would give just the necessary clearance to fit without fuss? You still might be a little tight, and have to get an aftermarket panhard bar to center your rear a bit better.

17x10's would probably be slightly heavier than the x9's, but you'll be able to mount either slightly wider tire, or mount say 275's with less bulge.. so theoretically you would get more of the treadwidth on the ground with less moving around.

On the street if its noticable but how much? I dunno.

the wheels i ultimately plan on getting for my car are 17 x 10's.

basically, if you get the right offset/backspacing....it should probably be ok.

because 17 x 9.5's fit on our cars all the time without fail, with a 275/40/17 tire.

so i feel that by going with a 17 x 10, if anything you could still most likely squeeze a 275/40/17 on those wheels, but in my hopes, i plan on trying to find a 295/35/17 tire if i can find it...i believe a 285/40/17 might work also although the overall diameter of the wheel and tire would be slightly larger than using the 275/40/17...i'll have to look into it again...if you do have a small rubbing problem, it would most likely be up front, where you might have to do a little wheel well "massaging" to make sure nothing rubs on a regular basis.

definitely try to do some more research before delving into purchasing your wheels...

...good luck...hope this helped...

Thumbs up

17X10 you'll need a 40mm offset to clear.

I had 17x11's and they barely stuck out, and they looked awesome. I got more compliments on the back tires than I did on my car. Make sure you get a good street tire though or you'll lose you car like I did.
