Re: 12 LSx intakes/tb variations tested on engine dyno

i think the ls2 is a fly-by-wire throttle body....so it doesn't have a throttle cable.

not positive though.

but its some good info...particularly on the advantage of the LS6 and ported TB.
it's nice to see how things like the bigger TBs have minimal affect on torque, but show good (in some cases) gains in hp in the upper rpms.

now i just have to suffer through wanting a FAST 90/90 and not having any money

Seems like info we already knew.

yeah, it's just nice to see some actual dyno numbers...how one affects hp at peak more but no affect on torque..etc

not just anecdotal
ls1 intake<ls6 intake< fast intake

nice to see info on the tb options as well...

The LS2 and cable feed 90mm TB is looking pretty good and cheaper than a fast 90/90. That will work on an ls1 motor wont it? Isnt the only thing thats different the tb and injector angle?

Re: 12 LSx intakes/tb variations tested on engine dyno

that's kindda what i was thinking.

or even the "modified" LS6 intake that they do for $350 (not including the intake...which i have).

the cost of their modded intake, and oval or 90mm TB cost less than just the intake alone for the FAST...and performs pretty close to it.

although it's way down on my list of things to upgrade...behind loweing springs and shocks, heads, and a 12bolt rear...so i've got time to contemplate

I would take that article with a grain of salt ... it is essentailly a TPIS advertisement ... all the combos with a TPIS TB came out on top - except against the LS2 TB and then the TPIS was essentially the same but but with better low end power. ... and amazingly it's the TPIS Spyder Manifold with a TPIS TB with SD tuning that was the best overall ... and yeah they can do the tuning for you and they got thier plug in there for that too.

"ls1 intake<ls6 intake<fast intake" on modified tuned cars ... is about the only thing I would take out of that test.

single plane intake manifolds usually make the most peak horsepower, so I don't see why that would be inaccurate.

Well, V6toZ28 does make a good point to watch out for.. They did admit to use different tuning for the Spyder series of intakes.. Its still probably a great intake.. Just something to consider though.

I wonder why they didn't include their FAST 78 intake with a couple of different TBs??

MAF tuning to MAF tuning the Spyder was no better than the FAST intake at peak and was weaker on the low end ... they did the SD tuning to show the big boost and hype thier intake.

a different cam is needed for a single plane as well. so it was working with a handicap in that respect.

put some of the curves into graph form so its easier to read.

looks like if you have an LS1 intake you should probably use it to start your next campfire.

was it me or did it just seem like a long ad for TPIS?
