02 sensor?

Well on my way to work, the engine light came on. I have a code reader and it says " Catalytic effic (bank 1) probably meaning one of my 02 sensors went bad... but I can't figure out where "Bank 1" is located....

Post the exact code, bank 1 is drivers side, and catalytic efficiency below threshold might mean you have a bad sensor, burnt wire, or a bad cat.

Bank 1 catalyst efficiency below minimum threshold

Basically that means your drivers side catalytic converter is not working properly. Take it to a dealer that is mod friendly and they will replace the converter free of charge and delete the DTC from the PCM.

Yep, sounds like P0420 - bad cat most likely. 00-02 F-body cats got an extended warranty by GM for 10yrs/120K in December 06.

How would I know if its a bad cat or bad 02 sensor? I had a buddy tell me to take a look and see if its burnt out, which im sure all of them would look sh*ty and burnt because exhaust goes through it... That is the code it reads btw.

Try swapping sensors from bank to bank. If the other bank is reading low catalyst efficiency, then that should point to a bad 02 sensor.

Faulty O2 sensors don't cause catalyst inefficiency codes. That is a myth, forget you ever heard it. Take it to the dealer already - its FREE!
