I recently blew my ls1 engine to my 02 Camaro z28 and was looking into getting another ls1 but haven’t been able to find one for a good price and decent miles any suggestions or should I just swap for a different engine? Budget is $5000.

 

Build a 5.3 for it. You can always bore it out a little to make it a 5.7.

 

Do you know if the 5.3 is just plug and play or do I have to make some adjustments?

 

It depends upon the year of the 5.3. The later model ones have a 56 tooth reluctor, your ls1 has a 28 tooth reluctor.

For what it's worth, any ls motor will bolt in and work with the tranny. Though some motors have a longer crank snout on the rear.
