$7,000
Well, how would you guys spend $7,000 on a 2000 Camaro SS M6? I want to have around 500 RWHP so I can spank Z06's. Im almost positive that I would need a new rear-end, so I would go with the Moser 12 bolt, but what would be the best way to go performance wise? Just get a long block or build up the stocker? The full exhaust is going to be the first thing done, but what after that, what way would be best to go? Is it possible to have a 500 RWHP car that is a daily driver? What is the most power I can get and still have a reliable car? I don't want to get to 500 RWHP using nitrous, but I want to have nitrous so I can spray a 100 shot on top of a 500 RWHP engine already. How would I go about doing this? Thanks, Ryan

you would probably need more than 7k if you want to get a long block. a 12 bolt is probably about 2500 by itself to get it to your door. so that leaves 4500or so, which is not nearly enough for an ls1 long block. gunna need some more $$$$

The rear IS gonna cost you around $2500.
Other than that, you're not gonna get 500rwhp w/o nitrous for $4500. You can do a H/C kit going with TEA or Patriot. Cars with big cams are getting close to 450rwhp now. THEN if you wanted to chance it you could do a small shot of juice. Either way, that much rwhp and you'll still be spankin Vette's with your low 11 sec timeslips.

At that point, reliability migh be stretched to reach 500 rwhp on stock cubes.. You'll need a fast and agressive cam, and rev the engine up real high... which will make low rpms suffer... which would make daily driving more of a pain..
If you shift your goals down to 400-450 rwhp and do everything yourself, thats probably feasible.. to get it all under $7000 with good reliablity.. heads, cam etc.. headers.. clutch.. you might get away with the stock 10 bolt if your careful, else go for the 9" or 12 bolt.
you might be able to beat it in straight lines, but maybe after doing alot of suspension mods, you might be able to get to the point of a stock Z06 on a roadcourse (probably sacrificing alot more comfort than the z06).. for that you're better off getting seat time first..

you could probably come real close to 500rwhp with heads cam, roller rockers, some dished pistons and a lightweight crank...however unless your going to do the install yourself this is out of the pricerange.
