Z28 wont START

Ok i just got back from vacation and i drove to qt in the z28 to get a delicious hot dog. I jumped in and turned the ignition and nothing happened. I looked and the security light was on. I never had any issues with that before. It was cold outside so i thought that was the problem. I waited 15 minutes and ate my hot dog tried again still nothing happened. I reset the pcm a few times and the battery still no go. Then noticed that the powerlocks wouldnt work. I waited an hour finally it turned over. When i was waiting i examined the key and everything looked good. When i got home i shut the engine off and the same thing happened. So what can it be?

if the security light was on....that's pretty much a guarantee that it's the key.

clean the ignition and key with some electrode cleaner. and make sure the key is all the way in the ignition before trying to start it.

i had an issue with mine a while ago, cleaned everthing, and havn't had it happen again for 3 yrs.....same key.
