Yolk in rear dif, how hard to replace?
I visited fort wayne clutch in Indiana, and he told me that if a driveshaft can be slide easily into the rear yolk, that the yolk is bad. Is this true? It's like that on my car, so I was thinking of replacing it. It leaks I beleive, because it is distributing what appears to be rear end fliud all around on there, esp. on my new exhaust. Is there a seal that bust? My car has no leaks now that I know off, my intake was leaking but I did replace it. Let me kow guys! I wasn't sure if this is a place to put this post, but if not sorry mod's!
Re: Yolk in rear dif, how hard to replace?
The U-joint doesn't have to be "super-tight" when it goes into the pinion yoke, but it should be sorta "snug". If your car is still pretty much stock though, I can't see why you'd need a new yoke??
They're not something that typically get worn-out. Maybe just the U-joint caps that are worn.
As far as the seal, there is a pinion seal in behind the yoke, and they ARE famous for leaking
. It's not too expensive or difficult to change that seal
