y-pipe rattle

anyone with a pacesetter LT y-pipe: does yours rattle on the torque arm too? cuz mine's friggin annoying. whenevr i get on the gas or especially when i spin the tires it'll rattle right on the torque arm and iyou can feel it pretty good. has this happened to anyone else? or is mine perhaps crooked or bent? i've tried reinstalling it, but its as low as i can make it hang.

Re: y-pipe rattle

Yeah, mine was doing that as well under hard acceleration. It was a little worse for me because I have a cat welded in that area as well at it was butted pretty close to the torque arm. I wrapped the y-pipe in header wrap as a temporary fix and it did a good job of dulling the noise. I just installed a crossmember mounted torque arm yesterday so that problem is now history.

I bought the adjustable crossmember mounted torque arm from Spohn.

Re: y-pipe rattle

the spohn unit eliminates and replaces the crossmember. this meaning the trans crossmember correct? so i might as well buy a poly mount for that as well?

No, it actually replaces that flimsy curvy piece of metal otherwise known as the tunnel brace.

Re: y-pipe rattle

oh 200gtp you have the pacesetter y-pipe. . .and the spohn stuff fits all good? the y pipe fits under the new brace? and did yours not origionally fit under the stock tunnel brace?
plus what does chromoly do for ya? is it worth $115 if i run at the strip and perhaps some crossin? spherical front bearings too? good idea? or too harsh for street?
how do you install the driveshaft loop on this piece? must you disconnect the front of the driveshaft and slide it through?

Yeah, the stock tunnel brace was banging on my Pacesetter y-pipe so I removed it. The Spohn unit fits like a glove around the Pacesetter y-pipe, no interference whatsoever and I still have decent ground clearance as well. I don't think chrome moly is worth the extra dough, I think the mild steel is plenty durable. As for the spherical front bushing, I felt that was unnecessary as well, the poly bushing is just fine. Yeah, you need to remove the driveshaft if you order the torque arm with the driveshaft safety loop like I did.
