trying to decide if i want to go with a ws6 trans am or a camaro ss(2001-2002)

i have seen a stock ws6 motor put down about 550hp with a procharger with upgraded fuel. how far can you take a stock ws6 trans am motor?

now with a camaro ss, i have heard people taking it close to 500hp im not sure how far you can go with a stock motor with a charger...

just wondering what you guys have seen and know, whats better for the buck? engine vs engine

im leaning to the ws6 but im not 100% sure what diff between the engines are if any...

Both have the same motors. They have LS1, the 01-02 have the ls6 intake as well. Both have the same potential. I guess there would be a little weight difference but not enough to deter you from getting the one you want.

I heard ws6 has better sespension than the ss and look more aggressive looking than the ss.

 

It's not called the Trans-Camaro for nothing... they are pretty much identical... the driver will make the difference. I like the WS-6 for the beefy looking body with the snout. I like the Camaro because, well because it is a Camaro. Personal preference makes the choice here.

 

Which which ever car you think looks better, they are the same damn thing.

 

execpt the ws6 ram air works 1000000x better than the SS

 

yeah but put a SSRA on a camaro/ss and it's pretty much as good as the WS6...all for $200

and a ram air is pointless when you're adding a blower

 

Get whichever one looks better to you, (or what you can get a better price on). It seems TA's generally go for more money than Camaro's, at least that's what I've noticed.

 

Pretty similar cars...its just a matter of personal taste.

I like the "cleaner" lines of the SS better, but thats just my opinion.

 

they both have the same suspension, they both have the same motors, they both have the same trannies, they both have the same frame. The only difference is the skin and the ac vents and the red background for the speedo

 

Does anyone know which one generally weighs more though. I am curious. I would think it would just bea matter of a little bit. But ive heard everything.

 

Trans-am is alittle heavier then the SS.

 

In most magazine test Ive seen for both cars it seems the WS6 always edges the SS by .1-.2. No enough to say one is really faster than the other. If I had to choose Id go with the WS6 because of the styling.

 

what about the z28 vs ss? that just a diff intake?
