not sure, but airbags cost a bundle to repair and the fenders+hood+front clip+windshield+paint, and you're right up there with the cost of the car. i hope it is repairable, but the cost of the repairs above (done professionally) is cuttin it close. throw in some under car or mechanical damage, and its quittin time. just my thoughts.

well im not sure if there interchangeable but i have a 93 camaro, ill toss you the drivers airbag for 20 bucks and the passenger one for the same when i get around to it. do you have. are you technically inclined? if they try to total your car just take it back and fix it yourself for relatively cheap.

I work at a body shop and we total them with less than your saying. Hard to say if you have any other damage until you start tearing it down. Our estimates for insurance companies get nuts when it comes to air bags and you can pick them up used real cheap. We took the money from our total and did the work ourselves and did it for 1/3 of the check we received. Buying the car back for next to nothing and doing the work yourself can net a very nice profit. I had some guy do the frame work and someone else paint it for $500 and i did all the rest.

It's really up to the insurance company whether it is a total or not. Sounds like it was only front end damage, so with luck it will be a fix. There was over $5000 in damage to my Dad's Suburban when he crashed (wasn't his fault, like you), and they fixed it. Especially since you have full coverage, I'm sure you can work something out with your insurance company so you can keep the car. Good luck, and don't let those insurance vultures mess with you.

The insurance company will look at the cost of the repairs vs the value of the car and if it's cheaper to fix they car they will, but if the cost of the repairs exceed the value of the car then they'll write it off.
....well as i stated car is worth more to me than any amount of money....so think imma let insurance total it, give me 12k ...buy it for 2,500 n restore her to new again with 75% ...n have the rest of the cash for my wallet....dont care if it has a salvage title or not....cars always gonna be mine....i could just pay out of pocket 2 keep the title clean.....but doesnt make any sense 2 me.....just my .02

I feel your pain (check my sig).
Ironically, the guy who wrecked me was a year older than you and was fixated on his radio while crossing a double yellow line (headed at me) and almost killing me with a head on.
She was totalled with over 9K in damage.

im confused why if the car is considered totalled it would be able to be bought back AND fixed. when i totalled my car i bought it back (to part) and it had a NON salvagable title, meaning it could never be registerd for use on the road again. the entire shell was bent anyway so i wouldn't have fixed it, but im curious.
